Jennifer Horn – Founder, We The People: A First In The Nation Freedom Forum

Remarks from the October 19, 2011 press confeence in support of the First In The Nation Primary

“We are all here today because we believe that our FITN primary is under assault – and we believe it is the responsibility of every Granite Stater to step up now and take action to protect our primary.

The First in the Nation primary is bigger than any one candidate or any one political party.  New Hampshire has hosted the FITN primary since 1920 and there is a very good reason why this has been maintained for as long as it has – because it works.

The long-honored vetting process of the early states has served the best interests of the voters of our nation.  There is no better way to get to know those individuals who would seek to become the next President of the United States. Without it, lesser funded or lesser known candidates would have no way to get themselves noticed or be heard. The early state process, led by New Hampshire’s FITN primary, best serves democracy, the citizens of our country and the candidates themselves.

Where would a Herman Cain, a Rick Santorum or even a Jon Huntsman be without New Hampshire?  It was in New Hampshire that Ronald Reagan burst forth, reminding Mr. Green that he paid for his microphone; it was New Hampshire that first gave Rep. Paul a platform for what has now become a “revolution”, it was the people of New Hampshire who propelled an almost broke John Mc Cain into the nomination in 2008…. AND…it is New Hampshire that Mitt Romney, Rick Perry & Ron Paul are relying on to propel THEM forward.

This is not a vanity issue for New Hampshire – this is a democracy issue for America.  Without New Hampshire’s FITN we fall into a “national primary” where only candidates with the up front funds to compete on national media will ever be able to run.

As stewards of the FITN, we have great respect for the role that each of the early primary states play in the process, and we are simply asking Nevada to stand with us to protect the process by moving their caucus back just 72 hours.

If Nevada is unwilling to honor our place in the process, then we would ask ALL of our Presidential Candidates to stand with New Hampshire and demonstrate their commitment to the process and respect for the rules by boycotting the Nevada Caucus.

By refusing to campaign or participate, the candidates will show that Nevada can’t just change the rules and bully everyone else in the process.

Finally, and most importantly, we are calling all New Hampshire citizens to take action and protect our primary!  We are asking every voter in the state to do two things:

First, please go to boycottnevada.org and sign the petition today.  And second, call your favorite candidate today and ask him or her to stand with New Hampshire and join the boycott.

Ladies and gentlemen, as you can see, we are passionately committed to preserving our FITN primary.  We are grateful for and supportive of Secty of State Bill Gardner’s efforts in this area, and we stand here today to make it very clear to our friends in Nevada, Florida and other state that would challenge our position, that we will not go quietly into the night.  New Hampshire’s FITN primary is here to stay and is entirely non-negotiable.”

“We the People”  Founder Jennifer Horn Calls for Boycott of Nevada Caucus if it Doesn’t Change Date

Asks Presidential Candidates to Stand with New Hampshire

Nashua, NH--We The People founder Jennifer Horn today called on Nevada to move their January 14 caucus date and if they will not, for the Presidential Candidates to boycott the Nevada caucus.  She released the following statement:

"Nevada's actions are an affront to the democratic process and do a great disservice to the Presidential Campaigns.  The long-honored vetting process of the early states has served the best interests of the nation.  There is no better way to get to know those individuals who would seek to become the next President of the United States. Without it, lesser funded candidates would have no way to get themselves noticed or be heard. The process in place best serves democracy, the citizens of our country and the candidates themselves.

“If Nevada is unwilling to honor the schedule put in place and agreed upon previously, then I would ask our Presidential Candidates to stand with New Hampshire and demonstrate their commitment to the process and respect for rules and boycott the Nevada Caucus.  By refusing to campaign or participate, the candidates will show that Nevada can’t just change the rules and bully everyone not following.”

May God Bless Our Soldiers This Memorial Day

This weekend, as you spend time with family and friends enjoying the beautiful weather and the time away from work, I hope you will join me in remembering what Memorial Day is all about.

We The People was founded to promote and preserve freedom in America.  Without the service and sacrifice of so many courageous men and women in the United States military, the unique American freedom that we all enjoy would be nothing more than a theory.

I have tried to instill in my children a love and appreciation for those who are willing to lay themselves down in defense of our nation.  I have tried to teach them that everything we enjoy in this great nation – freedom, prosperity, opportunity – comes as a gift from individuals we may never know, strangers willing to give their lives in defense of ours.

On this Memorial Day, my prayers are for those courageous American sons and daughters who serve our nation every day, for their loved ones who sacrifice in ways we can not imagine, and most especially for those who have given their lives so that our children will live in an America of freedom and unlimited opportunity.

May God bless you and your family on this special day, and always, may God continue to bless America.

Best wishes,

Horn Announces Formation of

We The People: A First In The Nation Freedom Forum

Nashua, NH    Jennifer Horn, former Congressional nominee, radio talk show host and newspaper columnist, announced today the formation of a new non-profit organization called We The People: A First In The Nation Freedom Forum.

"I am very pleased to announce this new non-profit, We The People," said Horn.  "This is an opportunity to continue the message of the campaign, that our nation is strongest when the people make their voices heard.

I believe strongly that the strength and success of our nation lies in the hands of the people.  I look forward to working closely with activists across the state and across the nation to share our Founding Fathers vision for an America of unlimited opportunity.

I was drawn into the political process for one reason: because I want my children to be able to raise their families in the same America I grew up in.  Every child in America needs to believe that they can accomplish anything they are willing to work and sacrifice for.

We are a uniquely exceptional nation and we have an obligation to preserve what makes us unique, both on behalf of our children and in the name of those who have given their lives to protect and defend our freedom.

At it's heart, that is what We The People is going to be all about."

ABOUT WE THE PEOPLE

We The People is dedicated  to promoting and preserving the Founding Principles of Freedom, Limited Government, Personal Responsibility and Unlimited Opportunity.

Our Mission

  • We The People seeks to engage citizens in open conversations about the impact of government on families, businesses and individuals across the country.
  • We The People seeks to increase awareness and education on specific policies and to advocate on behalf of the citizens of New Hampshire in regard to those policies.

Jennifer Horn
President, We The People

"The strength of a nation is not measured by her politicians or by her government; it is measured by her people, and the American people are strong. We, the people of America, will protect and preserve the founding principles of that made our nation great, for our children and our children's children."
